The bees found a home behind the toilet in the bathroom of the Lady Jane Grey room, these were really aggressive honey bees and did not take kindly to us being there, we had a few stings before we even started! They got through an old hole in the wall left by a change in pipework. We suited up, opened the toilet cistern to reveal another huge colony, the way they built the comb we had to also remove the front panel as well. We discovered that due to the hot weather one of the combs had collapse, this may be why they were so aggressive. Nearly every cell had an egg, we removed the honey bees, this took several hours working in shifts as the colony was so large, we then removed the comb into the NUC’s ready for transport. Bees were taken to quarantine ready to be later re-homed.
