Old Chimney Bees removal and re-home

The bees found a home in a lovely Edwardian home chimney. Scaffolding tower was erected for us to gain access to the top of the chimney. We had to change our plan after we started to try and remove some brickwork as we found the pointing had come away and was unsafe to carry on. We supported the chimney, and re-planned our approach, started to extract by removing the chimney cap and went in from the top. We had to smoke the bees out to ensure we collected as much bees as we possibly could. The bees became slightly aggressive due to the heat, it made us work against the clock as the combs started to melt and made it rather difficult and dangerous for the bees in the really useful purpose made collection box. After successful removal, we sealed the chimney, so the honey bees could not return. And swiftly moved the bees to the quarantine area.
